Staromestske / The Old Town

Stasromesksa is the section of Praha east of the Vlatava River. It's bordered by the Jewish district, Josef, on the North, and Wencelas Square on the southeast. This area of Praha is comprised of cobblestone streets and walkways and countless little buildings, all squeezed together - each one a multilayed artwork.

At the center of Staromestske is Staromestske Namesti, Old Town Square, which is a large open cobblestone square - the site of many of Prague's historic events and demonstrations.

A chain of decorative buildings.

While walking past the astronomical clock one afternoon, I came accross a Fleet of BMWs. There were about 30 of 'em - all rentals. That's St. Tyn church in the background.

That's me in front of the square and St. Tyn church in the background.

Praha had thousands of huge, beautifully-decorated, wood doors. Here's one that I liked.

Another decorated building in Staromestske Namesti.

My uncle (who we met in Praha), my mom, and my friend.

I saw a number of these too: Statues of strong men at the entrance to a building - holding up the structure. The men's ethnic appearance was not Czech - They looked more egyptian or african.

One of the faces of the Horologe.

Check out the pigeon helmet on the figure on the clock.

A short walk from Old Town Square is Josef, the Jewish District. Here's a picture of the old cemetary there.
