SINGAPOREAN EXPATRIATES OF THE AMERICAS (SEA)
Chicago Chapter President (Aug 2004 - 2006)
- The SEA is formed with the purpose of gathering all the Singaporeans and PRs of Singapore
in the North American Continent in a network allowing its members to network with one another
through a central searcable database based on many categories (location, interests, industries and etc.)
and also through an on going series of professional talks. Currently, there are three chapters:
New York City, Chicago and San Francisco.

Asian Advisory Council Committee (Feb 2003 - 2007)
- The Asian Advisory Council is involved in the Asian community related affairs in the State of Illinois.
It is also responsible for bridging the gap between the Asian community and the Secretary Jessie White
himself for various issues and concerns. One of its many duties is to create Asian culture awareness with
the annual Asian Month activities in the month of May which include cultural performances,
exibitions, talks and seminars.
XILIN ASIAN COMMUNITY CENTER
Advisory Council Committee (Nov 2002 - 2007)
- The Xilin Asian Community Center serves as a communication hub among all the Asian communities
in the Western Suburb of Chicago. It also organizes an annual Asian Cultural awareness month in
May, uniting the various ethnic groups in a large-scale performance and soliciting support from
both political and private organizations. Since this is a not-for-profit organization, it frequently
solicits donations and contributions from various organizations to subsidize activities and center
operation costs.

- Multi-lingual: Able to speak and write English, Chinese and Malay.
- Programming: C language on UNIX Systems, Microchip's PIC micro-controller,
PC, Macintosh, Digital Signal Processors (DSPs). The PIC micro-controllers are
popular embedded controllers used in many prototype devices. In UNIX, PC and Macintosh,
developed DSP programs for analysis and displays such as Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) analysis
and real-time graphical display of sensor data or calculations. HTML, PERL, JAVA, PASCAL and BASIC.
- Assembly language on Intel, Motorola 68000, Motorola DSP56000,
DMX-1000 DSP through PDP-11, Winbond sound/control chips.
Max programming on Macintosh to interface sensors and circuits
through digitizers for rapid prototyping of concepts and ideas.
The Winbond sound/control chips are used widely in everyday electronics
including cellular phones and are responsible for the behavior of the equipment.
The DSP56000 series is the very popular DSP used in many signal-processing
applications such as audio synthesis, editing and production.
