• Wireless Services Development (15 August 2001 - 29 November 2001)
  
  • Feature, regression and performance testing of the Standalone Home Location Register (SHLR) on the eCS (enhanced Control Server) and eSM (enhanced Services Manager).
  • Verification of IS-41/ANSI-41 SS7 messages among SHLR service, MSC and other services.
  • Tools used include COOL (Lucent Cellular Out Of Lab), which is an MSC (Mobile Switching Center) and a mobile station simulator software package, Sun MGTS (Message Generator and Traffic Simulator).

• eMRS Development (Aug 2000 - 14 August 2001)
  
  • Development for the eMRS (Enhanced Media Resource Server), with Sun Sparc Solaris and Intel based Solaris platforms. Software design and development, which includes programming in C, C++, Korn (K) Shell, Perl, http, JavaScript, Oracle database and RTDB.
  • Developer, feature and regression testing of software.
  • Installation (NPI) at customer based locations such as Verizon.
  • Development of software that handles large number of announcement files; sound tools to handle different industry standard sound files like Dialogic/OKI ADPCM (.32K) and Microsoft PCM Wave.

• Invention of "Silly 6 Pins" electronic bowling shown in February 2000 at the New York International Toy Fair and went into the market from the middle of year 2000. • Consultant to designers. Research, assimilate and implement wireless/wired communication and audio technologies. Development using controllers and audio DSPs for inter-device communication, voice transmission/reception and voice recognition.
• Contractor to Lucent Technologies (Aug 2000 to Nov 2000): Development of telephony products for Lucent Technologies on the eMRS (Enhanced Media Resource Server), with Sun Solaris and Intel based Solaris platforms. Software design, development, testing and up to installation at customer based locations, which includes programming in C, C++, Korn (K) Shell, Perl, HTTP and JavaScript, Oracle database and real-time database (RTDB). • Internet technology : Brain Opera (BO) web site http://brainop.media.mit.edu, a highly interactive virtual musical opera over the Internet with graphics and musical effects. BO Internet during tours with live audio/video broadcasts of the performance in Portugal, Spain.

PUBLIC SERVICES

SINGAPOREAN EXPATRIATES OF THE AMERICAS (SEA)
Chicago Chapter President (Aug 2004 - 2006)

• The SEA is formed with the purpose of gathering all the Singaporeans and PRs of Singapore in the North American Continent in a network allowing its members to network with one another through a central searcable database based on many categories (location, interests, industries and etc.) and also through an on going series of professional talks. Currently, there are three chapters: New York City, Chicago and San Francisco.

• The Asian Advisory Council is involved in the Asian community related affairs in the State of Illinois. It is also responsible for bridging the gap between the Asian community and the Secretary Jessie White himself for various issues and concerns. One of its many duties is to create Asian culture awareness with the annual Asian Month activities in the month of May which include cultural performances, exibitions, talks and seminars.

• The Xilin Asian Community Center serves as a communication hub among all the Asian communities in the Western Suburb of Chicago. It also organizes an annual Asian Cultural awareness month in May, uniting the various ethnic groups in a large-scale performance and soliciting support from both political and private organizations. Since this is a not-for-profit organization, it frequently solicits donations and contributions from various organizations to subsidize activities and center operation costs.

• Established a contact center for Singaporeans, Malaysians and interested people in the Mid-Western USA with Singapore representatives, like Singapore Embassy, Singapore Consulate, Contact Singapore (Ministry of Manpower), Singapore Economic Development Board, Singapore International Foundation, the Singapore Feedback Unit and Singapore Airlines. Discuss Singapore related issues with Singapore government officials like Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Education.

• Promote ties among SCC, other ethnic groups and IL Secretary of State (SOS) Asian Affairs Office.

OTHER INFORMATION

• Multi-lingual: Able to speak and write English, Chinese and Malay.

• Programming: C language on UNIX Systems, Microchip's PIC micro-controller, PC, Macintosh, Digital Signal Processors (DSPs). The PIC micro-controllers are popular embedded controllers used in many prototype devices. In UNIX, PC and Macintosh, developed DSP programs for analysis and displays such as Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) analysis and real-time graphical display of sensor data or calculations. HTML, PERL, JAVA, PASCAL and BASIC.

• Assembly language on Intel, Motorola 68000, Motorola DSP56000, DMX-1000 DSP through PDP-11, Winbond sound/control chips. Max programming on Macintosh to interface sensors and circuits through digitizers for rapid prototyping of concepts and ideas. The Winbond sound/control chips are used widely in everyday electronics including cellular phones and are responsible for the behavior of the equipment. The DSP56000 series is the very popular DSP used in many signal-processing applications such as audio synthesis, editing and production.

• Audio/Sound : Digital audio recording/editing/production with Digidesign Sound Tools; music teaching series "ABC of Aural Awareness" (1996); digital restoration of old recordings; installation of digital recording workstation (ProTools and Audiomedia) for the School of Audio Engineering (SAE), Singapore branch (1995).
