MULE, while a very playable game, has many shortcomings as a presentation of economic ideas. MarketPlace adds a number of
features:
* greater incentives to trade and specialize
* greater risks of market failure
* a simplified, symmetric model of commodity use
* market externalities and methods of controlling them
* interface enhancements to make the model more apparent
