me Having been born in San Francisco probably makes me biased, but I think the Bay Area is one of the greatest places on earth. Nevertheless, I've been living in Cambridge, Massachusetts for the last four years, and am now in my fifth year at MIT, having picked up my B.S. last spring. I study "Computer Science and Engineering" which basically means after suffering through a few years with mandatory electrical engineering classes, I'm now free to just write code. Currently I'm a research assistant in the Media Lab's Software Agents Group. I didn't used to have anything on this page about my interests. That was mostly because I felt bad subjecting people to my raving, and partially because I was lazy. I've now decided that web surfers are bored, and bored people will read anything, so I'm going to take a second and talk about stuff that I like. I like music...mostly urban, some kinds of classical (mostly Romantic and subsequent), and I'm currently on a quasi hard-rock kick. I also like to watch musicals, so I try to get to New York once in a while. I used to play the piano, but since I've gotten to college, free time has been sparse and erratic. Occasionally I'll fool around with some sheet music, but that's mostly theraputic. I also like sports. I'm not a very athletic person (ask anyone I know) :) but I like to play tennis and rollerblade, I've been doing a little swimming, and I always get excited about IM ice hockey. Not that our team is ever any good (we're D league), but it's an exciting sport to play. I also like to watch sports, football being the bane of my fall term grades (go Niners!), and I occasionally watch b-ball, hockey, and baseball. Less baseball recently than before '94, except a bit this fall, when the Giants were tearing up the league. I'm pretty into keeping up with news and politics and the stock market. Part of this is because I have some money in stocks myself, and I like making money :) and part of this is because I like to know what's going on. I hate being the last person to know. I also follow Taiwanese news and politics closely...it really does matter there. 80% voter turnout in the last presidential election says most people in Taiwan feel the same way. I'll probably append more random thoughts here when I feel like it, but that's it for now... |
