I was born in Ohio, and most of my family still lives there.

Travel is cool. Actually travel sucks: being somewhere else is cool. I don't have much money to travel on my own... but I have managed to get myself sent some interesting places.

I'm fascinated by real-time and near-real-time interactions across the network, and the social systems that grow out of them.

I've been infected with several destructive memes in the past few years. Some, I've managed to overcome, like DOOM, Magic, and Quake . Mostly because it's hard to find enough people for the multi-hour long deathmatch sessions at the lab.

The last big meme was Diablo . It not only took up all my time, it aggravated my RSI . Take a look at my character. The only reason I managed to kick this one that my main adventuring partner moved to a company with a firewall. Oh, and finishing the game didn't hurt either.

My current meme is, amazingly enough, fairly productive, although not entirely healthy. It goes something like, "publish a lot of stuff and get the hell out of here ."

I also spend some time trying to turn my Linux box into a usable workstation.

I also enjoy building and flying kites of various sorts. I haven't built any stunt kites yet, but that's on the top of the kite-activity list. In general I enjoy art, leaning more toward the three-dimensional. Take a look at some photos of stuff my wife and I have done.
