In the fall of 1997 I took an incredibly informative course at Harvard University called Physics123. It is taught by Paul Horowitz (co-author of The Art of Electronics and principle investigator of SETI) and Tom Hayes. They are a dynamic duo. The course was extremely demanding but enjoyable. I learned a great deal about both analogue and digital electronics. I think it would even be worth taking a second time.

After racing through all of analogue electronics in half a term , the digital portion of the class was building and programming a computer based on the Motorola 68008 CPU. It was exciting to learn how all the electronics 'inside the box' actually work and have a deeper understanding of the machine. Here are some pictures of our lab computer.
